about us

Loosethread is a new and rapidly expanding business based near the Gower Peninsular in South Wales. This beautiful location has been the inspiration for my work which is currently exhibited in a number of galleries and retail outlets across the UK as well as having been featured in lifestyle magazines 'House Beautiful' and The Mail on Sunday 'You' magazine.

My signature 'sea side' designs have reflected the places and memories of my childhood the beach, the sea, and lines of candy coloured weathered beach huts. My most recent designs though are more about me - my love of frilly spotted dresses, tall high heels and gorgeous deep filled cup cakes with tea.

From eye to needle via fast and furious needle each textile piece is an impression of a moment and a reflection of a memory- my memories, layered with tactile fabrics, stitch, pattern and buttons. I love to draw but not in the traditional sense. Trained in textiles I 'paint' the canvas with fabric then 'draw' in the detail with stitch, always leaving my 'loosethreads'.

What is a thread? Well the dictionary says that it is 'something acting as the continuous link or theme of a whole' and that is exactly what the threads that you see in my work represent. They link my ideas, memories and experiences, running run through all of my work. When you look at my designs and see those loose threads just imagine where they may take you.

Those threads do not hang unfinished, they represent the reality that in this life nothing is ever finished or ends it just changes each thread longingly reaching out to what may come next.
